PROLITE PADDLES As long-time stewards of the sport of pickleball, PROLITE Sports created the first composite paddle way back in 1984 and created an industry. If you know much about pickleball, you know that early paddles were typically wooden and quite heavy. But when Arlen Paranto, PROLITE's founder and an industrial engineer at Boeing, made the connection between the lightweight panels Boeing was using in aircraft manufacturing and the heavy paddles used to play the game the loved, he endeavored to create something better. Arlen decided to purchase some of the Boeing panels from a surplus store in Kent, WA, and developed the very first composite paddle which provided a lighter weight and better control of the ball, resulting in the first seismic shift pickleball paddle technology and design. Nowadays, and despite heavy competition, PROLITE produces industry-leading paddles and continues to churn out innovations with dizzying regularity. Many of the world's best picklers still rely on PROLITE Sports pickleball paddles for the best combinations of power and control to land them on the medal stand.
